These Danish base trays have been developed to be used with a drip irrigation system, where the nutrient solution is top-fed into Rockwool cubes or pots containing a substrate of your choice. The tray allows runoff to be collected into a reservoir to be used again or in a run-to-waste if the output of the tray is plumbed directly into a drain, or a second ‘waste’ reservoir.

When used in a drain to waste system, there will be less fluctuation in EC and PH when compared with a recirculating dripper system. This means that a drain to waste will require less regular maintenance.
